The Word of God is filled with spritual principles. One of the most commonly quoted principles is found in Galatians 6:7, "...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Another common principle is, "Give, and it shall be given unto you..."(Luke 6:38). Also contained within the Word of God are some basic principles for church growth.
The first principle is that the Lord wants all men to be saved and has provided a method of salvation through the cross. God gave His only begotten son so that none would perish (John 3:16, I Timothy 2:4, II Peter 3:9).
The second principle of church growth is that the Lord has made his Spirit available to all humanity in this time period in which we now live. "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh..." (Acts 2:17).
The third principle is that no man can come to Jesus unless the Spirit of God draws him. Jesus said, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him" (John 6:44). This third principle leads up to the fourth principle, which is that we must pray for the Lord to draw people to Him. You can witness to a person with the perfect attitude, perfect motive, and perfect scriptures but not make any progress because the Spirit isn't drawing them.
Along with the fourth principle, we must also lift up Jesus. Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" (John 12:32). We understand that Jesus is talking about being lifted up on the cross, but there is also the application that when we witness, testify about, and exalt Jesus, we lift him up above this world and people again. If we will plant and water according to God's principles, the Lord will give the increase (I Corinthians 3:6-7).
