Serving Jesus with an Anticipation

As we start out 2012, we should be anticipating what the Lord is going to do this year. When we look at all the promises of God, we should be in an expectant mood. The Word of God says, "...eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). We can't even imagine what good and great things the Lord has laid up for those who love him.

In the Book of Jeremiah it says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3). Jesus told His disciples on the night of the Last Supper "...he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works that these shall he do; because I go unto my Father" (John 14:12).

Again, the Word of God says, "Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days" (Ecclesiastes 11:1). The bread symbolically represents the Word of God and witnessing and the waters represent people and life situations. The Lord is telling us that when we witness in faith, there will be a harvest for our efforts.

When we are committed to the Lord and stand on His Word, we will see great and mighty things. We must continue to witness and sow the seed of the Word so that we can reap the harvest which the Lord has promised to those who labor. We must continue to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord.
