The Blessed Hope

While we have many promises and blessings in this life that are a result of being children of God, we need to be reminded from time to time that this world is not our home. Like those of faith that have gone before us, we need to remember that we are pilgrims and strangers on the earth.

Even with the blessings that the Lord Jesus gives us, there are seasons we must go through as we live in this world. Jesus said, "...In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

Sometimes the Lord allows unpleasant things to occur so that we refocus on Him rather than on the things of this world. Our hope needs to be in the Lord Jesus and His presence. There is great peace and joy from the presence of the Lord. Isaiah 26:3 says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee..."

We are living in times of great confusion and problems; however, the Lord is still in control. Paul told Titus that we are to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, looking for the blessed hope and the glorious apperance of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ (Titus 2:12-13). We need to check our hearts and make sure that we are looking for that blessed hope of the Lord Jesus and the peace and victory that will come with His appearing.
