We Have Found Him

The apostle Philip once made a statement to Nathanael. Philip said, "We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph" (John 1:45). Can you imagine the excitement that Philip must have experienced? He was telling Nathanael that prophecies, which had been made by Moses about 1500 years earlier of a messiah, were being fulfilled before his own eyes.

Nathanael didn't even believe Philip. Nathanael responded just like many people today. Nathanael couldn't see how anything good could come out of Nazareth. Many people can't see how anything good can come out of the Bible or the church.

It took a miracle to convince Nathanael. The miracle didn't take place until Nathanael took the time to meet Jesus. When Nathanael met Jesus, He told Nathanael where he had been sitting before Philip came and got him. Philip and Nathanael lived in a time of prophetic fulfillment. They had the privilege of seeing the fulfillment of prophecies made by Moses, Isaiah, and others.

We also have much to be thankful for and excited about because we also have found him that Moses and the prophets spoke about. We also live in a time on prophetic fulfillment. This prophetic fulfillment is not just the signs of the coming of the Lord. Every time we see someone filled with the Holy Ghost, we see the fulfillment of what the prophet Joel said, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit" (Joel 2:28-29).

We need to be like Philip and go get Nathanael. Just like Nathanael, they don't believe anything good will come out of church or the Bible. Just like Nathanael, if they will only come to meet him, he will work a miracle in their lives, filling them with his Holy Spirit.
