A paradigm is a model or pattern for doing things. A paradigm shift refers to a new way of thinking. When the existence of God becomes real to a person, they experience a paradigm shift regarding life. Many people try to handle life as though God doesn't exist. They may talk about God, go to church, and even pray, but they face life with the attitude of the world.
The world without God becomes a fight for power, security, advantage, position, strength, and favor. This is basically the idea promoted by evolution. Evolution says that the strongest and the fittest survive and that everything progresses by natural selection; however, when God enters the picture, everything changes. God brings a paradigm shift.
An angel told Mary that she was going to conceive a son and that he would be the Son of the Highest. Mary asked the question of the angel, "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" (Luke 1:34). The angel answered that God's Spirit will overshadow her, and she will give birth to the Son of God. "For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:37).
The Lord changes everything in a person's life. The Bible tells us that God chooses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; God chooses the weak things of the world to confound the mighty. God uses base things and things which are despised. The Lord even creates things which don't exist to confound the things that do exist (I Corinthians 1:27-28). The presence of God in a person's life creates a paradigm shift for living.
God says in another place, "Let the weak say, I am strong" (Joel 3:10). The Bible tells us that God turns the world's ways upside down so that no flesh will glory in His presence (I Corinthians 1:29). The existence of the Lord in our lives causes a person to realize that they are not limited by physical or earthly limitations because with God all things are possible. Let's remember - if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
